Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Lorenzo Browne (Chemin des Vignes 43a, 1299 Crans, Switzerland), who runs Flagtide at https://www.flagtide.com ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Flagtide, you agree to them. Please read them; we've tried to keep them plain.
The short version: Flagtide is a game. Cards, Coins and packs are things inside the game. They have no cash value, can't be cashed out, and pack contents are random (with the exact odds always shown).
1. Your account
- You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
- Players under 18 can play, open free packs, play Daily Games and trade with Coins they earned, but can't buy Coins or take part in auctions.
- Give a real date of birth and an email address you can access. One person, one account.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Usernames and display names must follow the community rules. We may change ones that don't.
2. Coins, cards and packs
Coins are the in-game currency. Cards and packs are in-game items. When you get them (by playing, as rewards, or by buying Coins), you receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them in Flagtide. You don't own them as property.
- They have no real-money value and can't be exchanged for money, sold outside the game, or refunded except as described in Coins & refunds.
- Trading, the market and auctions happen in Coins only. Selling or buying accounts, cards or Coins for real money (or anything outside the game) is not allowed.
- We may change the game's balance (prices, rewards, odds for future packs, card stats) to keep it fair and fun. We'll never change the odds of a pack you've already opened, and odds are always shown before you open.
- If we ever close Flagtide, we'll announce it at least 30 days in advance and stop selling Coins from the announcement on.
3. Random packs and odds
Pack contents are decided at random by our servers the moment you open a pack. Every pack shows the exact chance of each rarity before you open it (see Pack odds), and some packs guarantee a minimum rarity after a set number of cards ("pity"). The animation only shows a result that has already been decided.
Paid random items are regulated in some countries. Where the law doesn't allow paid random packs, paid packs may not be available to you.
4. Buying Coins
When Coin bundles are on sale, prices are shown before you pay, including taxes where they apply. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see your full card details. Coins are added to your account straight after payment.
Because Coins are digital content delivered immediately, you agree that delivery starts at once and you lose the right to withdraw from the purchase once the Coins are in your account, except where the law of your country says otherwise. Details, spending limits and refunds: Coins & refunds.
5. Daily Games, invites and other rewards
- Daily Games (Off the Map, Atlasword, Unfurl, Head Count, Closest Call, Size Up) are free. One play per game per day counts; results that look automated or impossible may be held for review and not rewarded.
- Invite rewards are paid when your friend joins with your link, verifies their email and plays. Inviting yourself, using fake or shared accounts, or buying sign-ups is not allowed. Rewards gained that way can be removed. See the Invite page for the current rewards.
- Answers you type in Off the Map may be added to the answer list (and shown to other players) if enough players give them. Don't type personal information or anything offensive.
- We may change or end reward programmes for the future. Rewards you've already received stay yours.
6. Playing fair
Follow the community rules. In short: no cheating, bots, exploits or multiple accounts; no scams in trades; no harassment or offensive names; no selling things for real money. If you find a bug, please report it instead of using it.
7. Places on the cards
Cards show real countries, territories and landmarks, built from open data. Including a place, its name, flag or outline is not a statement about its political status, and no government or landmark endorses the game. Card stats are game values, not official statistics. To report a mistake or a rights issue, see Data sources & corrections.
8. Suspending or closing accounts
We may warn, limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the rules, or to protect other players. Where it's serious (fraud, chargebacks, cheating), items and Coins gained through it may be removed. We'll tell you why, unless the law or the safety of others prevents it, and you can reply to support@flagtide.com to ask us to look again.
You can stop using Flagtide at any time and delete your account in Settings (see the Privacy Policy).
9. Our content
The Flagtide name, logo, card designs, pack art, game code and texts belong to us or our licensors. You may share screenshots and clips of your own play. Don't copy the game, scrape it, or use our branding to look like us.
10. Availability and liability
We work hard to keep Flagtide running and fair, but it's provided "as is": there may be downtime, bugs or changes. If a bug gives or takes items or Coins by mistake, we may correct it.
As far as the law allows, we're not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or the loss of in-game items that have no real-money value. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (for example for intent or gross negligence), or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For important changes we'll tell you in the game or by email at least 14 days before they apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Flagtide and close your account before then.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Switzerland. Courts at Nyon (Vaud), Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws and courts of the country you live in. Please contact us first: most problems are solved quickly by email at support@flagtide.com.
